Welcome
Pass It On!’s message is that early detection of breast cancer can save your life. Breast self-examinations and mammogram screenings are the best defense against a disease that hits women at random.
Laura Walsh Plunkett was the energetic force behind our efforts to educate young women about the critical importance of breast health through self-exams, personal health advocacy, and healthy lifestyle choices. Diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in January 2005 after finding a small lump the size of a pea, she became determined to help other women take control of their personal health.
Laura founded the Pass It On! organization to provide breast education and friendly self-exam reminders through organic one-to-one connections within the community. One friend shares the information with another friend who, in turn, “passes it on” to yet another friend. A simple and powerful system for educating women about a very virulent and rapidly growing disease.
In the growing chorus of the Young Survivors Coalition, an organization focused on young cancer survivors, Laura was an important voice for the education of young women about breast cancer. Through your efforts to Pass It On!, we will continue to project and spread her voice until all young women the world over are, as Laura loved to say, their own best health advocates. Thank you for sharing our mission.
